NTLK TapBar applets

Hi, again,

For those not aware of TapBar applets (links were listed in previous
emails, check out the archive on the web for those messages, since I
deleted them...), I highly recommend you try them out.

I'd been using the Names Button (forget its source), but have now seen
how powerful FastAccess is. I only installed one button
(FastAccess.pkg, not FA+FastAccess, whose function I don't know), and
I use Avi's Backdrop as a scratchpad for text. You write a word, tap
the button, it tosses up a list of possible places you'd like to go
to. Basically, it's a Find function for Names: I write "green" and it
lists all names with "green" in the city (Greensboro), the name
(Greene), Notes (green hair - on a cousin), or wherever. Slick.

Another Drawer gives easy access to Extras folders, with sorting
included (as opposed to EZAccess), plus it lets you change volume and
rotate (thereby allowing me to get rid of the rarely used Rotate
Button - I have AutoRotate installed, but sometimes it doesn't work,
and this is good enough for those moments). Seeing your battery
details is also included, though with Avi's Backdrop, that's not an
issue...

Storage Util isn't as powerful for its card switching ability (again,
Avi's Backdrop has that included for as much as I need it), but it
does have a great double tap way of opening the dock and connecting.
Very slick.

Other buttons TapBar has that I use regularly:

Unmount: lets you unmount those cards safely on a 2.1 machine. Doesn't
label them by name, so you have to know the order in which they were
inserted. Otherwise it's really helpful.

Styles: doesn't matter where you are, it brings up the Styles palette.
This is helpful in Works, where the offered Styles in the font menu
aren't as complete as what I have from Styles+.

Power: quick tap to turn things off. Saves wear and tear on the power
button, basically.

Things TapBar can replace: now, with Additional Drawers, I can be less
reliant on EZAccess. I always have a hard time finding the tiny button
in the upper right corner, and I don't use the tap-and-hold assistant
related elements. Plus, seeing the package I want is a pain, too, with
EZA, and having differen folders helps.

Just thought I'd give a review of what is out there. Some of these
things are really amazingly helpful, so if you've never tried TapBar,
go ahead and messa round a bit. It's a great help.

michael
