What a great idea. I have been wanting since I purchase the Newt that type of
networking for our hospital. Most of the errors occur in caring for people in
the bureaucratic maze of a modern, academic hospital is in the taking off of
orders and the interpretation of Doctors' great handwriting. If everyone had
a portable, networked PDA that allowed for syncing of all sorts of data
fields and which did not contain hold that data, then each individual MD or
RN or whatever could, once they are in range, have access to the main data of
the patients they are "allowed" to see but once they go home, their PDA only
holds their own data, and not that of the patients,i.e., there would not be
any chance that patient senstive data was distributed. All doctors would have
their email, their patient data, updated continuously in the hospital. When
the MDs wrote an order, it would be sent to the appropriate party. Can not
wait. I thought it could be done with the Newt using infrared download sites,
but a even better way is Sorry to be long.
