NTLK wireless networking

I'd like to develop an application that will connect to my private TCP/IP
network. The app will run on some sort of handheld computer and connect to
the network wirelessly. I admit that I don't know much about PDA
programming and networking, but I own two messagepads (an original newton
and a 110) and like them quite a bit. So I'd like to ask the list a couple
of questions:

- Ideally, I would like a wireless airport-type connection to the local LAN
when I'm in range, and a different type of connection, like a cellular
dialup, when out of range. What hardware is available for such purposes,
and are there newton drivers?

- Are there sources where I can purchase (perhaps bulk quantities)
messagepad 2000/2100s and support contracts?

All suggestions are appreciated.
