Yes, I heard of the NewtLight (I even mentioned it on the NKW and on its Newtonbook edition) but it's not perfect:

1. It drains the power off the Newton. I think that an external frontlight should have its own batteries. LEDs, for example, are very power efficient.
2. It still requires a custom-made attachment to hold the light for the screen.
3. You can't use a modem or a printer when you have the NewtLight on.

While as I recall Adriano is no longer producing products, this one
would work with any newton, though perhaps a bit awkward for the 1x0
Newtons with the serial port at the lower right.
