[NTLK] eMate overclocked

I recently acquired an eMate that was in pretty rough condition. Sprung hinge with severed display cable, PCMCIA card release mechanism bent and protruding into the slot which interfered with inserting cards.
I decided that this was a candidate for try a speed upgrade. so after performing needed repairs I installed a 5mhz crystal and switch.
All seemed to work well initiallybut when I inserted a card to install ethernet connection packages it wasn't seen. I tried several cards without success so I blamed the damaged slot and regretted not using a fully functioning eMate. A visual inspection didn't reveal any damaged pins.
After a few resets without any improvement i switched it to the slower speed, did a reset button reset and everything worked switched to high speed and it still could read PC cards. Reset at high speed and no PC reading, but repeating at low speed reset and everythin worked again.

Has anyone else done this overclocking and had a similar experience?
This is being written and sent from my zippy eMate via wifi.

Woody
