I was quoted on the NewtonTalk mailing list as wishing my iPhone could translate my voice directly into text. As mentioned, devices are becoming small enough that this is actually possible, to do this very thing.

Through a company called SpinVox.com

Although you are currently limited to 30 seconds per audio transcription, 30 seconds is plenty of time to transcribe a quick note, a to do item, or a quick memo that we'll be sent, via email, as plain text.

The whole process of translating a voice memo into text only takes about 4 minutes from the time you start your recording until the time you actually received the translated in in your mail box.

Another feature of the SpinVox.com its connection with QuickVoice Pro. When you sign up with SpinVox you get a phone number and a pin. Dialing the phone number allows you to record messages via your iPhone Then they get translated to text and the transcript emailed to you.
