The 2x00 does have a so called Super Cap which acts like a battery up to 4 hours after removing all power from the Newt.
This feeds the real time clock.

The 2x00 does not have a backup battery. There's no permanent data =
stored
in volatile memory, so there's no need for one. If you leave it =
without
power for long enough (to drain the capacitor that keeps it alive), =
you'll
lose stuff like the current time (and pen calibration I think)..
