I forgot to add.
On his home computer, he had decided to upgrade to XP and his fun meter
was pegged out!
He was just getting tired of the usual PC maintenance/upgrade fun.
I noticed that the computer and software specifics weren't mentioned in
the comparison that Lui's group made. As we all know, that can make a
big difference.
So just for fun, here is another comparison. My Powerbook 170 (8 year
old system) that can boot and launch PowerPoint (or word, or Excel) much
faster than my NT system (2 year old system) at work.
Does that mean anything...not really...but it sounds good! ;-)
Somewhere in the equation, ease and enjoyment of use has to come in. A
friend of mine, a graphics artist professional, used Macs extensively at
work. At home, her husband was PC centric. They used the same type of
apps, such as Quark/PS/PM.
She said something to me that was very interesting. She said while both
platforms can basically do the same thing. she was creative and the
juices flowed when using the Mac. However, on the PC, the the creative
juices flow and her solutions were much more rudamentary.
BTW, right before they returned to the US, they bought a new Mac. He had
been won over after visiting her office one day, and seeing the
difference.
