Changing the serial port connector does (annoyingly) wake up the MP2100,
but it's not involved in receiving faxes, which come in over the XJACK
connector on my PC card Megahertz modem. But even if changing the XJACK
connector woke it up (it doesn't), I'd still have the problem of its
going to sleep while waiting for the fax.

Yea, but I was hoping to avoid leaving it plugged into AC power for long
periods (in conjunction with Sleep mode Prefs "Stay On When Plugged In").
