Calvin,

I'm not sure if you're intending to be sarcastic or if you genuinely want sone more information on my experiment. I thought my notes were quite thorough, perhaps overly so.

Anyway, if there's something else you'd like to know, feel free to ask.

I would definitely consider another shot at it with a lower-power card, but each time I activate with AT&T Wireless I pay a nonrefundable $45 fee, plus I have to pay for return postage if I have to return the Merlin to Outpost.com, so I'm not going to try again unless I see there is a significant change in the modem power specs and feel I have a good chance of success.

Also, there are other wireless solutions available for Newton: Metricom Ricochet, Novatel Sage external CDPD modem, analog cellular, GSM data, and CDMA data, all of which do work with the appropriate modem, phone, cable, and dongle combination, but none have the seductive form factor of the Merlin.
