Well, if it's just the batteries, then usually the Newton went in a deep coma. There are a few methods to bring it back to life in the FAQ <http://www.info-newt.com/faq/index.html>, but
the main point is to remove all power, let the unit rest for a few hours, then plug them or put a known good set of alkalines and try to power on. If that doesn't work, try to reset. If
it's still a no go, you can try the procedure described in the FAQ to do a hard reset (erasing the internal store), but answer No when it asks if you really want to erase the internal
data.
