There are lots of packages available for the MP2100 -- in fact the best
stuff was only published after the Newton's official demise --, and there
are still some software authors developing for the Newton.

Yes, either using a serial connection or via Ethernet. For the former you
need a serial/USB adapter, for the latter a Newton-compatible Ethernet
card and a small hub.
