NTLK SOS - Memory Card went bad.

Last night, my MP was acting a little funky (thinks in the InBox appeared
blank) so I reset the newton. While it was activating packages on the
Memory card it stopped on MoreInfo. Never happened before, so I reset it
again. Now I get this message:

This unformatted card is write protected. To format the card remove it,
unlock it, then reinsert the card.

Needless to say, the card is not unformatted, nor is it write protected.

It is a 16 Meg card that just says Flash Memory on it, with a blue square
and a white silhouette of a profile on it. No brand name, and it was a
gift.

Fortunately, I keep all my data on internal memory and 2 weeks ago I pared
the stuff on the card down to less than 8 megs and backed it up onto my old
8 meg card, so I am in no trouble, but I would like to get the card working.

Actually, one of the reasons I went through all that was so I could wipe the
card and restore it from a backup to eliminate any old and lost junk
(essentially a card brain wipe). It seems odd that 2 weeks after I do
preventative maintenance it would die.

When I put it in older systems (A 110 for example) it asks if I want erase
the unformatted card, but if I say yes, it insists it's write protected.
Blah!!!

Any thoughts? A friend has a WinCE device. Should I try to format it with
that?

Thanks for any help,
Loren
