The whole thing depends on which Nokia Phone you are speaking about!
The 61xx series do have an IRDA port, but they dont have an internal Modem!
If used with a Wintel machine, you need some software called Nokia Cellular
Data Suite which provides a "software modem". Apparently some guys are also
working on a non-official software to run under Linux. Except that somebody
would write the necessary software for the newton (not an easy task) you
will never be able to use these range off phones on the newton, even if we
would have IrComm from SmartDog.
But if you own one of the Nokia's with build in Modem (like the 7110) it
should be possible to use them if we have the IrCOmm protocol supoorted on
the Newton.
