Slightly off-topic, TRGPro has made a Palm OS device that comes close to
Newton hardware standards...8 MB RAM, all the features of a Palm III, decent
loudspeaker, and a Compact Flash slot that supports an IBM 340 MB
Microdrive. Palm OS 3.5 will support a color screen, and another
manufacturer has made a Palm unit with voice recording.
If Apple could pull all this together in 1 unit, and throw in decent
handwriting recognition (Rosetta), I think this would be a worthy Newton
successor. It won't replace a Newton, but in many ways it would be superior.
