How do I dismount a Ram card?

When in the past I had dismounted a card The Newton would respond with
something like.

"Please reinsert the card or information on it may be damaged."

A few moments after I reinsert the card it then displays a
     Dialogue stating something like:

"You may now safely remove the card

Now I just get the first message in an unusual dialogue box and It never
gives me permission to remove the card

is there another way to dismount a card?

I always use Software unmount. This will at least ensure I stress the Card Eject mechanism by half. I now use SBM's Card Eject.

You can force the Card not to load software by holding your pen on the left edge of the screen halfway down from the top. First for Internal then Card. You can then safely remove your Card. If this don't work, it looks like you may have an errant package that refuse to unmount.
