You should be OK to update a MessagePad 2100 or 2000 or eMate, even after the January 5, 2010 deadline. Just follow Eckhart's instructions for the fix here:

No (not yet) but make sure you have the most current Apple ROM Patch (i.e. 526205-US) installed. Check here:

You will know right away if you have a problem with your 130. You will not be able to set the date to anything in 2010 and beyond, it will revert to November 1, 1995 (or crash). You can set the date to 1993 or 1999 to be weekday equivalent.
