I have a pretty good connection running Vista with my 2000, The only problem is that I cannot backup my Newt to my PC

It sure can, all you need to do is obtain a serial to usb adapter and some
drivers and your ready to go. Be aware that the newer the system the more
likely it will be that the system will try to communicate at too high of a
speed to produce a reliable connection with Newton Connection Utilities.
Therefore a small utility is required when using NCU to slow down the system
to enable a solid connection. This program slowdown.exe can be found at
http://www.unna.org/unna/windows/slowdown.exe. I have found this method to
be almost 100% effective with little to no extra work involved. Other
methods like running a virtual pc with an older operating system such as
Windows 98SE installed on top do work, but require too much work in my
opinion, especially with an easy alternative at hand.
