The image of a writer and his mechanical typewriter is a archetype because this invention (typewriter) have a lot of decades. And the HWR?
Everyday someone got surprised when see me writing on the screen of my Newton. It is very young. We cannot compare.

The Newton concept is perfect, if you limit it to what the first Newton commercials laid it out to be - "Newton is ..."
It's the counterpart of your Moleskin notebook, or your paper organizer, enhanced with email, phone and fax capabilities (which at office I found extremely helpful).
But if you want speed, working on longer documents, the keyboard has an advantage. That's why typewriters revolutionized office-work all over the world. And think of the creative writer and his mechanical typewriter: that's almost an archetype.
