Thank you so much for your response.

I should have mentioned I have an iPhone 8Gig, but How would one read
with that
or the iTouch?

Now when you say convert doc's into a ebook could you please explain a
bit more? In any event, would this solution be even better then the new
Kindle. (which is getting very bad reviews)

I like to read in bed, but having my MBP 17" on my belly is just not
comfortable for reading, movies yes, reading no.

Thank you again, I am very interested in why you stated don't sell the
iPod Touch short......

Best,
Tom

The iPod Touch was just an impressive little device. From the one I
saw working, it was truly quick interesting, and just have a lot of
features built in that the Newton would be a Frankenstein to even start
to accomplish the same thing.

However, the ONE selling factor of the Newton above all others is the
Screen size. That is always very readable and enjoyable, smaller and
lighter than a laptop, but at the same time too, a little heavy to hold
in one hand for more than say 15 to 20 minutes. :) The Newton's
selling factor is it's greatest weakness, since it also made it too big
compared to the palm and all that. So kinda ironic.

As for the converting, generally I would take a format, find a way to
extract the text (like taking a pdf, getting the extended version of
Acrobat so I could capture the text) and then paste the text in the
Newton Book Maker...(forgot the formal name... been a year or two since
I've used it.) Worked alright.

As someone once said, crude but effective.
