Re: [NTLK] Newton Dates - Any better Diary program for entry & display of long text Events

First of all I would like to thank everybody who replied.
However I am amazed that the Newton struggles with such
a basic task. If I have a long appointment then this can be
entered on more than one line and displayed on more than
one line.

But if I have an appointment without a time...

a. long entries (forget it)
b. display (well we'll cram it into the top left hand
corner and take up what would have been useable
display space on the RHS with a calendar.
c. display multiple lines (forget it)

Thank you to Andy Hill for the Dates/Diary suggestion.
This did go someway to achieving what I wanted but is
still a compromise. There is also a downside when syncing
with Lotus Org on the display of such entries (I know I
didn't mention the sync side - but for now let's just
leave that as it is).

I found another problem with Lotus Org as well in that it
seems to want to put sync'd events at a start time of 8:00am
even though I've set the start of my day to 0:00 for diary
entries (however that's another problem for another day).

Oh and if I have 4 or more of these 'diary entries' the
Newton even start's to hide them - displaying only 2 and
displaying a message 'more events below' !. Well yes I
know there are more entries - I'd like to see them please.

I'm staggered and dismayed that the Newton fails so badly
in this what I would consider simple yet fundamental task.
I just want an appointment without a time, 6 - 12 lines
of text entry (per event) and the ability to display this
in a dates / calendar program.

Out of all the Newton packages out there I thought there
would be something that filled this apparent weakspot of the
Newton diary.

To ad insult to injury having mentioned this to a collegue
at work, he outs with his Palm Pilot and proceeds to enter
'an event' He writes & he writes, multiple lines appear on
the screen and it just keeps going and going. Want another
event ok no problem. 5 events later and I'm convinced.
But it gets better (for the Palm not the Newton) he then
proceeds to sync this with the Palm desktop and voila
diary entries of the days events appear at the top of any
appointments for that day - displayed on multiple lines
where they should be - in the Palm diary section.

Oh boy. So if anybody knows of any software out there
that can get the Newton close to this, from the display
and entry point of view (excluding the Palm Desktop cos
there is no Newton Deskop) then I'm all ears - otherwise
it looks like the Newton might become a bookend. I know
which direction I'm starting to look in.

Regards
S.O'Neill
