Hey, one thought in regards to this...
has anyone tried to see first if an older printer will work and then try to
use the newer printer in compatibility mode of some sort... I recall many HP
printers use to be backward compatible to an older model such as the
HPLaserJet II.

If anything eventually comes up as a solution please let us know here.
I'm eventually going to find some free time and when I do I'll see which
printers I have still left not cluttering up my basement and see if I can
get this to work first then try it at work with a newer model HP's that we
have there...

HTH - BTW I didn't see the work around yet so I will have to look at that
when I do get free - hopefully it's not just a similar suggestion ;-)
