Which you can compare, BTW, an important fact most easily overlooked!
Both are roundish, you can compare them by size, weight, colour,
sweetness, how much you like them, etc., and you'll find many
similarities and differences!
(By the same toke you can compare Vlad the Impaler with the Mahatma
Gandhi, green cheese with the moon, or even bad nuts and obnoxious
little girls -- with remarkable results!)

"Pomeranze" for orange might still be used in Austria and the formerly
Austro-imperial countries of Middle- and Eastern Europe (where they
also delight in unique commidities such as Paradeisers, Karfiols, and
my favorite of the batch, Kukurruz. Ex-K.-u.-K.-Newtonians pls.
confirm.

In Germany, BTW, there is supposedly an expression called
"Landpomeranze", which is a derogative (rude, but not vulgar)
proclaiming the rural heritage (which is perceived as inferior to that
of the speaker) of a young female of the species. Now I wonder where
that comes from as I've never heard of them growing much oranges
there...

Apple Newton-Smith, eh? I wonder which side of the family was the
Smith... Weirdo... ;=}

Jon, I salute you for that sig. I only now got it -- and I've even been
to an exhibition with genuine Capa-prints, inkl. his last fotos. Pretty
foretelling quote, no?
