No, that won't work.

That might work. Perhaps someone who's done this can help you, I'm
IRda-less.

There's also the card-loaner program. Has anyone used it yet? The idea
is to send out a PCMCIA card with all the required drivers on it to
people in your predicament. Once you're up and running you mail it
back.
