I opened them up in ClarisWorks/AppleWorks, as I recall. I don't own
MSWord and haven't since Word95 for Windows - didn't try it with that
program, but as I sent a set of notes to a friend I'd imagine they
opened fine in Word too. Claris on 7.5 and AppleWorks on 9 or whatever
my husband's laptop ran at the time both worked fine. OpenOffice works
fine too, I just checked :-)

I can't say I've had a word processor that could handle RTF image
objects do it wrong...

Can't do it all in one go, not if you have a lot of notes. I've found
that I can get at most a 1MB RTF (not sure how that maps to newton note
size) at once; if I try to export too many notes at once it only exports
the first ones up to the 1MB limit. I think it's a heap limitation on
the part of the newt, because that didn't vary whether I was using the
iBook or the LC575...

For my class notes, I exported them in 1-class, 1-week chunks, which
gave me ~200kb files for the most part, and 12-13 files per class per
term. It takes a long time to convert and export, and you must be
patient. Of course, I think I had some 5Mb (newton-size) of class notes
- three years worth!

That's the problem with world domination. Nobody is willing to wait for
