Hi Andres,

I was having the same issue also.
Running a P4 2.6GHz XP
There are a few items youi should look over before trying to run NCU or
anything.
You need to review all apps to see if you have anything running that
accesses the COM port.
This is especially important if yoiu have Palm Desktop or ActiveSync or
other applications installed that use the COM port.

I uninstalled Palm Desktop and disabled ActiveSync access to the COM port
and then tried running NCU. This sometimes worked and sometimes it just
never saw the Newt. Now I am unable to confirm which application was the
issue or if were both but since both access the COM port (both items need to
be taken care of)

As suggested in the Wikki and by others on the List I installed an instance
of Slowdown and then tested, then two instances and tested. With my MP2100 I
used 2x Slowdowns and one step form the slowest setting in both instances
and tested fine. I still have issues at times installing packages that are
larger than 200-250kb the PC Window just closes after some time. I can try
again and some times it will go through, but most of the time it just stops
again.

On my other PC P4 1.6MHz the same setup always works.
I will have to fiddle with three instances of slowdown and see it that
stablizes my 2.6Ghz PC NCU connectivity.

So, do we have a list of computer configurations and setups for NCU and
slowdown anywhere? Maybe this would be helpful to those just starting out
point instead of the use an instance of slowdown and test...?

God bless,
