Hello Pierrick, welcome!

>(most of them now work with the eMate or MP2xxx).

For starters, you may want to check the sites named at the bottom of every
NTLK-posting:

>This is the NewtonTalk list -
<http://www.newtontalk.net/>http://www.newtontalk.net/
>for all inquiries

-- here http://marc.10east.com/?l=newtontalk&r=1&w=2 run searches
against NTLK, very useful ressource.

-- the FAQ is very instructive.
[Grant, Victor, Paul - wasn't the FAQ supposed to be updated since over a
year ago? Just askin', mates, jus' askin! ;=} ]

>WikiWikiNewt for all kinds of articles:
><
http://tools.unna.org/wikiwikinewt/>http://tools.unna.org/>wikiwikinewt

-- the Wiki is general-to-special, much recommended. You can add articles,
too, and I strongly encourage esp. the newbies (like myself) to do so: When
you discover for yourself something new, post a Howto there and help the
next newbie. Post software reviews, HowTos and tips, e.g. when you've had a
real problem, asked NTLK and got a satisfying answer that might help others
in the future, post it at the Wiki.
Maybe you could start a NOS 1.x-page there, listing software you find to be
compatible and useful (with links to where to find it).

Then there is http://UNNA.org, the central repository of Newton software.
Shareware, charityware, postcardware, abandonware, freeware - heaps of
software for NOS 1.x, 2.x and 2.1.
UNNA wants your help, too: Whenever you find an app that's not available at
UNNA yet, be sure to upload it and write a description for it. And whenever
you download something from UNNA and it doesn't have a description yet,
it's very good policy to write one after testing (and mark which OS it
worked with, and if the app can be rotated or not).
Unna also has a lot of Newton manuals for download. VERY recommended! UNNA
also has a error code database, if you even need to lookup something.
[Victor, why isn't UNNA in the NTLK sig?]

*** You see, there are many starting places, and good ways for new
Newtonians to help the community.

Also there are many link-colections and other websites in numbers like you
wouldn't believe, and still some of the old-time Newton software companies
sell their apps (usually at reduced prices). Just do a bit of Google!
Tip: Often you'll find dead links to cool apps. Many of these webpags have
been archived and can be accessed either through Google's Cache service or
the Wayback Machine at http://www.archive.org. Very valuable!

My man, you'll be surprised. Some of the hottest Newton application
development is happening in France! There's enough Newtonians in France to
have the first Newton World Meeting organised in September in Paris! Plus
your neighbours to the South and East and North each have some Newtons. You
are not alone.
(There even was a special French Newton, the Schlumberger Dr. Watson, I
think info about this is at the Wiki...)

>I only bought an old (but fully fonctionnal) MP120 french software...

Is ist a NOS 1.x or 2.0-MessagePad 120?

>And where can i find some packages that works with an MP120
>(most of them now work with the eMate or MP2xxx).

Most stuff developed before 1997 will work nicely with your MessagePad if
it's 1.x.
A lot of the later stuff is only for 2.x, some even 2.1-only (e.g.
Text-To-Speech modules, Newton Works,...). MP 120 NOS 1.3 can be upgraded
to NOS 2.0, but you'd need to have a 2.0-ROM to do so (a rare item outside
od a MP 120 NOS 2.0).

Hope this will give you a good start,

'Kasko
