Ooo. I didn't catch the crossover cable part... I don't think it will work.
It never worked on my Pismo, even in OS 9, before I even got X. The reason
is that the Pismo is 100/10 Ethernet, and the Newton's card is 10/T.
Somehow, I can't get the two to talk. I had to throw a hub into the mix in
order to get it to work. I'm betting that this may be your problem.
