You may have tried this, but I have a 2100 and find that starting the
backup from the Newton (i.e. tapping the "backup" option on the Dock
slip) instead of from my PC makes a big difference for some reason.
When I click "Backup" on my PC's screen the backup begins but the
progress bar just grinds away and nothing happens. From the Newton it
works fine.
