Why not try the resets described at
http://www.pda-soft.de/2x00_disassemble.html?
If you do this by the book and the Newton still won't power on, you'll
probably
have to open it, but many a Newton has come alive again on its one at
some
time during the sequence described.
If you do have to open it, first remove the ROM board and put it back in
to
ensure the contacts are ok and it is correctly seated.
