I don't have much more than 12mb of data on it and it works for a while (backs up all of internal store and the first few external packages) then seems to choke. I will try the idea of ethernet cable to see if that makes any difference. Keyspan works well with downloading programs but not so well uploading them. Also I think serial connection is just too slow. I have gotten ethernet to work with the newton but it means changing all my network settings in Mac OS 10. I guess I could use an alternate location but our airport base station seems rather picky.

Chet and Newts,

I never got my big 32MB card to back-up via serial to my 2300c, 280 or
my iBook using the keyspan. When I went WiFi (airport, 802.11b whatever
you want to call it), I finally got my first back-up of the 32MB card
on the iBook after I tossed all the previous back-up folders out of
NCU. Messing around to get Appletalk to work via the 802.11b card and
Classic in MacOsX.2 is a PIA, sometimes I think it's dependant on the
socks I am wearing (those little white Hanes socks with blue gray toes
and heels, shorter than the "crewsocks" seem to work best :-) ).

I really think tossing the old back-ups folders in NCU is what does the
trick.

good luck,

Randy

You can bet everything will come to an end. It's going to be ugly and
it's going to be a mess, and it's going to be something that somebody
