The Mac has several interfaces among which you can browse in the
Configuration popup menu. Last item of this menu lets you enable or
disable interfaces.
Ensure that for Ethernet, AppleTalk is active.

Something else: ensure that the Newton will use your Ethernet card
for AppleTalk. This is in Prefs, under AppleTalk.

Yes, it should fix the problem. You can also choose the correct setup
there. I think that you have a wrong setup selected there, hence the
-61001.

This preference basically avoids the dialog by choosing for you. If
you can connect to the Internet with NetHopper, there is no reason
you couldn't with the TCP/IP dock module.
