Re: [NTLK] Help! blank screen (long)

It's dead.

Well as far as I go. I tried to take it apart to get at the screen end of
the ribbon cable and now can't get the battery holder together properly to
fit a battery :-)

I have a feeling the ribbon cable may have been damaged as the two power
leads that are supposed (I see now!) to run in the groove provided for them
were trapped UNDER the ribbon.

Anyone know of a source?

But on the bright side I've just ordered a 'barebones' 2100 for $40.00 with
$15.00 for shipping to UK - some names/companies mentioned have asked more
than twice that for shipping.

So, the cheap no frills market is useful after all, but there's a moral in
this somewhere. One is to remove cards before loading software or better
still not to put them into sockets without ejectors until you know all is
well. Or you could say RTFM! I'm annoyed with myself as I am so fond of
quoting that to other people.

Now my last dilemma. Suppose the files on the 'dead' Newt are there for
ever. What happens if I pass on the board to some enterprising soul and they
resurrect it? I'll probably do it myself but just don't have time at the
moment.

Hmmm

Ian
