-10551 is flash card is busy.
-10607 is flash block full.

Usually an incompatible card will do nothing, or if it's an ATA card without
ATA Support installed, give a -10557.

Sounds to me like the card might be corrupted. Try inserting it when the
Prefs slip is open on the Newton in order to force a format.
