Wow...I must have been pretty tired when I wrote that. Several missing items.

As far as the pringles can antenna...there are instructions all over the
internet on how to do it. It creates a directional antenna. With a well
done can you can get a little gain out of the antenna, but the main feature
is that it creates a directional antenna. This is useful for many
things. As far as I remember, the connector on the airport card is pretty
standard for pcmcia 802.11b cards. You could purchase or build antennas
for it easily.
