Maybe it's just me, but I had the Alpha3 driver working with both a Gold and
a Turbo Bronze (8mbit top speed).

I'm actually not surprised that it works, though. The software interface is
the same on all three versions of the card, so one driver should work on the
Newton, the same as only one is needed on any other platform.

About the cards that haven't worked... my suspicion is that it is a question
of the version of firmware in the card. There is a joke about the WaveLAN
cards that any one you buy is virtually guaranteed to have out of date
firmware. In my case, both of my cards have Spring 2001 firmware (last time
I updated them); this is about a year old version, but was still many
versions ahead of what was on the cards when I got them. There was
apparently a major revision (which corresponded to the 6.0 release of the
Windows drivers) which was when full IEEE 802.11b/WiFi compatability was
implemented.
