The book is "Newton's Law - A Digital Nomad's Guide" by Andrew Gore and
Mitch Ratcliffe (1993: Random House, New York).

Besides covering Newton history, the Message Pad and MP100, the book
also looks ahead. The authors write: "Apple is thoroughly commited to
Newton. The company knows that this may be its best bet to make it
through to another decade. Executives in Cupertino certainly won't let
this Newton stand alone as the sole expression of such promising
technology" (p. 440).

So much for their view ahead! :-) But, it does have some excellent
history.

Borrow money from pessimists. They don't expect it back.
