That IS normal, enjoy it!
But the maximum rating at 7.5 V is 1300mA.
If you read more than 1 Amp from the BattTrax display this prooves that the
data given on your ac adaptor are NOT right (the Newt will draw around 40 -
60mA on top of the charging current. But probably the output voltage of your
adaptor drops down below 7.5V while providing more than 1 Amp...
