Right, but with the size of the screen and the resolution both of the
screen and the digitizer, you wouldn't have enough space to finish
writing even short words. Real HWR on a Palm (sized) device is awkward
at best, which is why a lot of us are frustrated to hear critics laud
the elegance of the Newt OS while criticizing the size of the device.
The advantages of the Newton are in large part due to--not despite--the
size.

I actually think that it would be great to have newt devices of various
sizes for various purposes, but I don't think there is going to be any
further development in this area, so I try to avoid this painful fantasy.

But hell, half the time, I'd settle for a PalmOS device that has a
screen the size and resolution of my 2100. Yes, there would be some
things about Newt that I'd still miss, but make a Palm in that form
factor and I'll plunk down my money for it, and I might never use Newt
again, and probably never use the Palm IIIxe I have ever again either.

Ooops, same thing. Painful fantasy. Because it'll never happen. God, I
hope just once, someone would prove me wrong about this.
