Well, since National just opened up, but with the restriction of one
carry-on bag plus a personal item (purse or small briefcase), I'd suggest
the following (which, I believe keeps your nail clippers and disposable
razors)... Check your garment bag! The one practical benefit I can see from
more extensive security is that it may start removing the incentive for
folks to try to put steamer trunks in the overheads! Imagine, if you will,
that a whole planeload of nearly unladen passengers arrives, quickly removes
their coats from the overhead bins and deplanes speedily. I expect the
speedup in passing thru security, boarding and deplaning would make up for
the time spent at the carousel.
