As someone who owns 4 Newton and two PalmOS units (including Mini-Newt,
the Handera 330), I can tell you that is was (in no particular order):

1. Price (the Newtons were WAY more expensive)
2. Size (it's easier to keep with you always than the Newton)
3. Hotsynching
