Southern Ireland (Eire) uses 240 volts and the 'UK' style plug. Your adaptor
should work fine although you'll need a pin converter to get it to mate with
the three pin socket.

Not sure about free isp's but Yahoo should sort you out there. If you're
visiting England then Freeserve works.
