To sidetrack a little;
I found that when trying emails on my MP120, I sped things up by almost 30
seconds (sometimes) by using the actual IP number as much as possible in
any entries; skipping the DNS lookup on MP120/2.0 and 14.4 modem made
things a LOT faster.

Sounds like your DNS entires are either wrong or missing.
