NTLK ADVICE: batteries vs. rechargable newton battery

Folks;

I was not awaret hat there is a controversey surrounding the use of regular
and/or rechargable batteries vs. a bonified newton rechargable. What's the
story? I hear that it may be harmful to use regular batteries in the
Newton. If so, why or, if not, why not?

What happens when the Newton rechargables go dead? Sure, there are some
replacements now, but what about down the road, is there a way to revive
them after there are no new ones to buy? Aren't we all destined to be using
AA batteries in the long run?

Thanks.

Mark
