The best solution was the nylon-case by Apple.
It gives you what you ask for, and it's not too expensive (sth. like 35 $
new).
Don't be afraid, if it seems as if you have to squeeze the MessagePad in:
there's a soft padded layer between keyboard and MP, tried it myself, it
works fine.
