Hi. Thanks again for the drivers from the people who sent them to me.
I finally got around to getting a AAA battery so I could try out the
thing. I don't have a paging service - I didn't want to get one until
I knew the Messaging Card worked. Is there any way I can test it
without receiving an actual page?
I put in the card and it is recognized in my MP 120 with OS 2.0. I go
to "In Box" and tap "Receive Messaging Card" and it says
"Initializing communications"
"Receiving the current configuration"
"Setting your configuration options"
"Closing..."
and with "Messaging Card" in small font below the "thermometer" bar
that doesn't progress noticeably (or progresses too fast for me to
see).
Then I get the following error message:
"Messaging:
An error has occurred. The last operation failed.
You may retry the operation."
Does this indicate something is wrong other than the fact that I
don't have a paging service?
Also, whenever I move the switch on the Messaging Card from off (0)
to on (1), it beeps twice twice - that is, it goes "beep beep" and
then pauses and then "beep beep". No light lights up.
According to the manual I'm supposed to be able to call
1-800-SOS-APPL for help on this, but I kind of thought that, given
what I've heard on this list, that Apple probably wouldn't be able to
help me much.
Any ideas? Should I just go ahead and try to get a paging service
anyway and hope that solves the problem?
