There is also websites with whois portals that allow you to get admin info
on specific sites from the Internic databases.

there is actually a specific unix command for it nslookup
usage nslookup xxx.yyy.de

if you are also interested in knowing the real server name, the most easy
way to find it, is by using traceroute, which is used in the same way
usage tracerout xxx.yyy.de
(traceroute however is not standard on all systems)
