It seems to be mostly down to the speed of the desktop machine; the faster
it is the more likely it is that slowdown will help it work. There may be
other ways to get it working but I find that cranking slowdown up (down?) to
maximum enables perfect backups even on my PIII 500 at work - my own PC (150
pent Pro) needs no slowdown, it's slow enough :-)
