"Some links don't work":  Quite right.  The 1-page guide was written a few years ago now and many of the vendors have moved their pages, disappeared or ceased trading.  I'll update it over the next few weeks.  

"Wifi cards":  From memory, only certain Wifi cards with a particular chipset work:  http://myapplenewton.blogspot.com/2009/07/apple-newton-2x00-wifi-hardware.html

Hiroshi's driver is the only one that works:  http://myapplenewton.blogspot.com/2008/08/going-wireless-setting-up-wifi.html.
