I wasn't trying to initiate a "slagging Ferdi" game, just reporting my experience with him and his USB-001. It's too bad because I was also interested in his backlight upgrade and replacement emate cable but "fool me once ...". Luckily, I still have the dongle and a working Powerbook 160 for backups, etc. I use a wifi and a bluetooth card for all other connections to my modern macs.

I had one of the original SER-001 boards from PCBMan. It was awesome and worked for over 10 years. I loved not having to deal with the dongle. Then one day, as I inserted the cable, the connector broke off the board and no more joy. I wish David was still around as he was a reliable source of accessories and hardware knowledge.
